To me one of the first strong foundations of a devoted life and a strong prayer life is this thing called adoration. When my relationship with God went from a “Christian Duty” type of living to a vibrant, love relationship was when I learned that first my prayer was not asking or seeking but first just going into the throne room, sitting at His feet and just spending time praising and adoring Him. I often say to God, “I’m not here to ask, I just want to sit in your Presence and just absorb your Spirit"
Adoring Him breaks the spirit of self centeredness and pride. It centers our thoughts and prayers on Him. It releases our faith for the impossible. It opens doors that takes us into the “nothing is impossible" realm. When we adore God, it releases us from the strongholds of our past failures because it takes us into an understanding that it’s all about Him and that He is able to "...do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us..." (Ephesians 3:20) And because "The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?" (Psalm 118:6) Prayer has so very many different parts but for us to tap into the real depth of prayer and Christian living as a whole, we must very early in our journey learn the power of genuine adoration. Ask God to teach you how to adore Him.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
Faith is greatly enhanced when we understand the God we are praying to, when we grasp who the Creator of the known and unknown universe really is, and when we realize He really does care about us and the cry of our heart. He does answer your prayer not because of who you are, but because of who He is.
